Challenging what we think we know about suicide

Who are we

We are on a journey to change the way suicide is understood, discussed and treated. We fund research into the biological factors that can increase suicide risk— how brain chemistry, genetics, inflammation, and stress systems interact— and how these markers might be identified earlier in individuals. Our aim is to bridge the gap between the scientific research and real world care and to drive open and honest conversations that are rooted in science. Knowledge is hope.

  • To boldly question everything society tells us about suicide

  • We share our story of suicide loss and encourage you to share yours too

  • Spread the word, fundraise, participate in a group event, offer corporate sponsorship and/or buy our merch

  • Supporting science-led research that challenges and advances our understanding of suicide risk

“Imagine having a disease that we knew killed almost a million people a year, a quarter of them before the age of thirty, and yet we knew nothing about why some individuals are more vulnerable to this disease. This is where we are with suicide.”

— Anne-Laura van Harmelen
